List of people and ideas [minimalism and Indian music]

Readings on Minimalism and Classical Indian Composition have proven to be fruitful! These are both ENORMOUS topics that will require a much longer investigation. In any case, it has turned out to be a good direction as I originally had hoped.

An investigation of Indian music will be difficult to complete... I'm going to need some help from an expert, as the books available at the IU Music Library focus mainly on Western Classical traditions. If this becomes an area that I choose to follow it may be worthwhile to start a regime of lessons and learn to play this music properly.

People, works, etcetera in the Minimalist vein:
LaMonte Young
Pandit Pran Nath
Terry Riley
Steve Reich's essay "Music as a Gradual Process"
Philip Glass
Brian Eno's connection to "minimalist" compoers
post-modernist concept that the listener/viewer can "complete the work"
The Soft Machine
